Welcome
Norman Cross lies in the north-west corner of Cambridgeshire, south-west of the City of Peterborough, near the junction of the A15 and the A1(M).
One of the four Hundreds of the old county of Huntingdonshire, the name derives from "Norsemen's Cross".
The Friends exists to promote interest in all things connected to the history of Norman Cross and its setting, in particular the Napoleonic Prisoner of War depot that existed on this site from 1797 to 1814.
The Friends was created in 2008 following the success of the appeal to replace the memorial bronze eagle in 2005.
Membership of The Friends of Norman Cross is £10 per annum, and gives preferential access to the talks and trips organised.

Events
The Friends have organised hugely enjoyable trips to Portsmouth, King's Lynn, Great Yarmouth, and Greenwich, and were also heavily involved in the Time Team 2009 excavation. We are active participants in the annual Heritage Open Day in September - see our schedule for 21st and 22nd September 2019
